Despite their lofty objectives, the Directive Principles have attracted criticism for being too vague and non-justiciable, which sometimes leads to their inconsistent implementation. Critics argue that their aspirational nature renders them ineffective in bringing about immediate social change, and that the lack of judicial enforceability often leaves them as mere guiding ideas.
Moreover, tensions have been noted between these principles and Fundamental Rights, leading some to question whether the Directive Principles dilute the enforceability of citizens’ rights.
