Conjunctions

Subject: English

Book: English Grammar

**Conjunctions** are little connecting words that link words, phrases, or whole sentences. If you imagine two Lego bricks, a conjunction acts like the piece that snaps them together.

### Main Conjunctions
- **Coordinating**: “and,” “but,” “or,” “nor,” “so,” “for,” “yet.”
- Example: “I like apples **and** bananas.”
- Example: “He is tall, **but** he doesn’t play basketball.”
- **Subordinating**: “because,” “if,” “when,” “although,” etc.
- Example: “We went inside **because** it was raining.”
- **Correlative**: “either...or,” “neither...nor,” “both...and.”
- Example: “**Either** you eat your veggies **or** no dessert!”

### Easy Kid Examples
- “Tommy plays soccer **and** basketball.” (using “and” to add)
- “I want ice cream, **but** we have none.” (using “but” to show contrast)

Conjunctions keep sentences from feeling choppy. They’re like glue that holds your ideas together so you can say more in one go!
